In the late two decades competitive sports in colleges and universities have undergone great development and become one of the most important components in the national sports construction, which provide outstanding reserve competitive sports personnel for the Olympic glory plan and build solid foundation for the scientific research. However, no competitive sports performance examination and evaluation system suitable for the continuing, healthy, fast, steady and highly efficient development of competitive sports in colleges and universities and for the demand of the market economy system has been established up to the present. Problems still exist in the selection, classification, quantification of the indices of the competitive sports performance evaluation in colleges and universities, which will directly affect the resource distribution in this field.The present dissertation explores the current development and existing problems of competitive sports in colleges and universities in Tianjin by consulting experts, referring to documents and analyzing data statistics. Based on the strategic objective of competitive sports development in colleges and universities, with indistinct comprehensive evaluation approach, analytical hierchy process ( AHP ) , expert inquiry approach and data envelopment analysis(DEA), the dissertation establishes the efficiency evaluation index system suitable for the development of competitive sports in colleges and universities in Tianjin and then conducts a comprehensive performance evaluation.
