Study on the Woodceramics in Net Shape Fabricated by Sintering Wood Materials/Phenolic Resin

This paper studied the fabrication of C-C net shape woodceramics using the sanding wood powder impregnated with PF resin carbonized under high temperature and vacuum circumstance. It was the first time to use the wood processing remains effectively to fabricate woodceramics directly and impregnate wood power under normal pressure and room temperature in the study.Especially on the impregnation process, impregnator was unnecessary. The paper analyzed the effect of carbonization speed, carbonization temperature, material component ratio on the mechanics properties, friction property, electromagnetic shielding effective (ESE) of woodceramics, analyzed the effect of carbonization temperature, material component ratio on the chemical components and microstructure of woodceramics and discussed the heat property of woodceramics under high temperature and air circumstance. It was found that the carbonization temperature had evidence influence on the mechanics properties of woodceramics. When the ratio of wood material and PF was 60:40, the bending strength and apparent density of woodceramics increased with the increase of carbonization temperature and formed carbon multi-ringlike structure, the content of carbon elements increased gradually, the distance of carbon element shrinked gradually. The woodceramics fabricated above 650℃ had good friction property which increased with the increase of carbonization temperature, and the wear away content of woodceramics fabricated under different carbonization temperature increased with the increase of wearing revolution, and the wearable property of woodceramics was improved with the increase of PF content.Woodceramics had good electromagnetic shield effect when the frequence was 1.4GHz (about 40dB) for carbonization temperature was 650-1 000 ℃, with the increase of carbonization temperature the electromagnetic shield effect of woodceramics had a little increase. When the ratio of wood material and PF was 50:50, the woodceramics had medium electromagnetic shield effect (40~50 dB) between 9KHz and 1 500MHz, which could be used as electromagnetic shield material on electric equitment and used under high temperature. It was found that the woodceramics underwent chemistry structure transformation contrary to uncarbonized wood powder during carbonization process on the basis of FTIR analysis, and the aroma structure in the woodceramics was increased. TG—DSC online analysis was used to study the heat property of woodceramics. The weight loss of woodceramics resulted by water and other small molecule discharging was less than 10% under 350℃. The woodceramics had good heat-resistant property among inert gass because the weight loss of woodceramics was 9.13% under 700 ℃ in N_2 atmosphere. But the woodceramics would be oxidated and released CO and CO_2 under a definite temperature in air atmosphere. The carbonization temperature was the key factor for the
