Investigation of Virtual Scene Rendering Techniques Based on Geometry and Image Combination

With developing of computer vision techniques, investigation of virtual scene rendering technique has become an important part of virtual reality system. Traditional virtual scene constructing method based on geometry is on the basis of computer graphics, and it is convenient for user to interact with object in the scene and we can obtain the depth information of object directly. It has free view point. But investigation of this method depends on virtual scene complicacy. It is difficult to realize on the ordinary hardware platform. In the meantime, the image based method uses pixel as its rendering element, its rendering speed is independent on the scene complicacy, and it just correlates with image resolution. Cruise can be realized on the low level platform, but it lacks depth information and has the problem of hard interaction. So how to use the geometry and image combining method to construct virtual scene is an important problem in virtual reality recently. There are lots of problems to slove. In this thesis, some relatived techniques based on geometry and image blend rendering method are proposed.In the investigation of virtual scene modeling techniques, the virtual scene modeling method based on camera rotating movement has the characteristic of simpleness and convenience. Image stitching is one of the important techniques in this method. The main problem of image stitching is correspondence, that is matching. An image corresponding method based on feature is put forward in the second chapter, because of using edge feature of image, the corresponding speed is improved.Edge feature extraction is an important problem in the image correponding. Traditional extraction method can not meet the requirement of image corresponding, a Template Based Area Weight Marking Edge Detection Method(TBAWSEDM)is put forward, on the basis of it, a fast point correspondence strategy is investigated . Image corresponding is limited to edge scope, it can make the image correponding fast and improve the veracity.In the investigation of virtual scene blend rendering techniques, because the 3D object imaging is related with camera interior parameter and exterior parameter, a self-calibration method based circular point is put forward. In 3D space, points on the infinite plane compose the absolute conic, and it contains the interior parameter information of camera.We use photography geometry character of circular point on the absolute conic to calculate camera interior parameter, exterior parameter can be obtained.
