A Research on the Anti-Hegemony Discourse in the Trend of the "Cultural Studies

Trends of "Cultural Studies" emerged and grew rapidly in the late 20'1 century and have now become a hot issue for scholars from home and abroad. As a new interdisciplinary idea with broader perspectives,it is quite a challenging subject of study. This dissertation undertakes to establish and elaborate on its subject matter from the perspective of anti-hegemony discourse in order to come up with an overall grasping of the trend of "Cultural Studies" on a macro-level. The main theoretical basis and discourse resources for the trend of "Cultural Studies" derive from Marxist philosophy and Post-modernism. From the cultural perspectives of gender,race,class,and sexual orientation etc.,the dissertation undertakes to examine and criticize the hegemony factors and mechanism in the human social and cultural texts and practical construction. As anti-hegemony discourse,"Cultural Studies" mainly consists of four major topics of popular culture research,Post-colonialism criticism,gender politics and intelligentsia theory,etc. In these theoretical areas,trend of "Cultural Studies" have basically evolved into a unique frame of reference and basic trend of its own.The general features of the "Cultural Studies" trend are practical character,political appeal,critical orientation and systems openness,whose aim it is to go against the hegemony discourse and cultural hegemony in the contemporary and to advocate the establishment of a society of pluralist culture with equal opportunities and all inclusiveness.
