The last 70 years from Dao Guang 20~(th) to Xuan Tong 3~(rd) is the last time of Qing Dynasty. Huge changes happened in many ways : economy, politics, culture, science and every aspects of social life. Changes also happened in the classical light novel. It came through the transition from the traditional mode to the modern mode. Theses changes happened not only in the ways of how to write the novels, but also in the ways of how to publish these books. This paper suppose to trace out the development skeleton of Chinese light novels separate edition in the late Qing Dynasty.For sake of the convenient discussion, the 70 years is divided up to three periods. The first period is from the 1840 to the 1871. The second period is from the 1872 to the 1901. The last period is from the 1902 to the 1911. These factors such as printing ,paper, machine, subject matter, publishment idea, novel idea , issuance, publishing house , the writer, the reader etc are considered in study. But every factor didn't develop equally in different periods. So the discussions on each factor are not changeless. To be brief, the development of the separate edition of Chinese light novel continued the traditional mode in period 1, changes came out in period 2, and new faces developed in period 3.In the first period, on account of the old printing and traditional publishing house , the separate edition of light novel didn't break out from the traditional mode. In the second period, owing to Shen-Bao Press participate in light novel publications, the printing of light novel was updated. In the last period, under the influence of " novel's revolution", the idea of novel was changed largely, and many national capitalistic publishing houses founded , so that the separate edition of Chinese light novel was transform, from composition to publication.
