The Analysis of the Personality Characteristics of Impoverished College Students and the Study of the Education Approaches

In recent years, with the extension of higher education and the execution of intuition policy, there emerged a special group of college students on campus —impoverished college students (ICS). The so-called ICS refer to those whose basic living cost is lower than the lowest food standard in the area, and who can not afford the tuition or the study necessities and who live without financial security. According to the statistics of some departments, there are about 10-20 percent ICS. And with the orientation of higher education is shifted from the talent education to mass education, more and more ICS will enter college and the number of the group will grow rapidly Therefore, the education of such a group will become one of the main tasks faced by the 21st century universities.The paper studies and analyzes the personality characteristics, types, the factors for personality development and the educational approaches. This is the first comprehensive, systematic and insightful study of ICS across the country. The study approaches are scientific combining theoretical hypothesis and practical testing; the sampling process is convincing covering 1650 college students of more than 10 colleges ; the techniques are varied including T-testing, F-testing, relevant analysis, Linear Regression,Logistic Regression,K-Means Cluster,Canonical Correlation, etc; the findings are accurate with the help of the best software SPSS. All this makes the paper a good reference to some departments which intend to educate ICS.The paper is divided into two parts: the first part is theoretical study and the second part is practical study. Howerer, there is no quantum table that is used to test college students on self-inferiority and motivation of accomplishment in China today. Therefore, it is necessary to developthe quantum table of college students self-inferiorityand the quantum table of college students motivation of accomplishment.Besides, in order to identify the factors for the personality development of the ICS and the educational approaches, it is important thatthe quantum table of the factors for personality development of ICSandthe quantum table of the educational approaches of ICS be developed.
