The object of this postdoctoral report is ten questions about the generic terms of Chinese administrative division for the moment. The author try to find the key to solve these questions through examing the generic terms change at all times in China and comparation with that all over the world. In his opinion, the generic term "Sheng"(省.province) would continue to be used in times to come. However, he suggest that other provincial generic terms such as "Zhixia Shi" (直辖市, provincial city) and "Zizhi Qu"( 自治区 , provincial municipality) will be unified to "Sheng"(省,province), but their name separately are "Chengshi Sheng (城市省,city province) " and "Zizhi Sheng ( 自治省,self-governing province) ". The author suggest that the main mode of giving birth to new provinces is that one will be divided into two or three because we should draw lessons from history after his carefully research. The generic terms of ruling county such as "Zhuan Qu"(专区), "Di Qu"(地区), "Diji Shi"(地级市) should be abolished in the future, however, they could temporarily be changed "Fu"(府) now. Too many repetitious administrative names should be standard, and too questions with "Shixia Qu"(市辖市) should be solved. The prefectural generic terms such as "Lin Qu"(林区), "Te Qu"(特区) should be unified "county", and the same name in minority areas "Qi (旗) ", "Zizhi Qi (自治旗) "should be unified "self-governing county". All the common name of county seat such as "Chengguan"(城关), "Chengguan Zhen"(城关镇) "Chengxiang Zhen"(城厢镇) should be innovated to idiographic name. As examples, the author try to divid Huabei(华北), Sichuan(四川), Lingnan(岭南) into several provinces ( including common province, city province and self-governing province) in the light of his own theory.
