With the development of tourism academic research and higher education, the research on Chinese tourism history began and achieved greatly with the characteristics of a wide selection of research assignment and considerable depth, though its development is not really well balanced. Looking into the research of Chinese tourism history, the researches mainly focus on the history of tourism activities rather than the history of the tourism thoughts, and general descriptions dwarf thorough analysis in numbers. At present, the systematic study on tourism planning thoughts is still blank.The study on the evolvement of Chinese contemporary tourism planning thoughts is based on comprehensive summaries and is of great significance. The article consists of 6 parts as following:Part 1: The stage division of tourism planning thoughts. By introducing the academic stage division ideas, we discuss the choosing of division methods, and in methods of quality and quantity evaluation, we give the development course of Chinese tourism planning thoughts a comprehensive description and draw a conclusion on how to divide it.Part 2: The study on the embryonic period of Chinese tourism planning thoughts. Firstly we talk about the origin of tourism and tourismplanning, and then we do the research according to the division of the two stages: the unconscious embryonic period of ancient tourism planning thoughts and the initial period of modern tourism planning thoughts. We think that the ancient tourism planning thoughts were derived from travel activities, and were generated from garden planning, regional development and city planning. While the modern tourism planning thoughts is developed with the appearance of modern tourism industry, and it is embodied through the following respects: the initial perception to the concept of tourism resources, the theoretic consideration in tourism scenic areas planning, the emphasis on the complete development of 6 elements, the preliminary research on the developing steps of tourism industry and the form of organization, and the preliminary consideration of the strategy of Chinese tourism development. Finally we summarize the historical experiences and the lessons we learned.Part 3: The study on the resource-oriented period of tourism planning of China. Based on the analysis of the social, economic and academic background, we discuss the developing course of tourism planning thoughts. We consider that tourism resources are the mainstream of the tourism planning researches, that tourism product and the systematic development of 6 elements were becoming the hot spot, that the study of tourism market was gradually setting out and quickly developing, and that the planning content system was becoming complete and standard bydegrees. Meanwhile there are 3 problems in this period: blind development, management contradiction led by multi-head management and immaturely theoretic methods.Part 4: The study on the market-oriented period of tourism planning. Divided into 3 stages of development as generating, growing and maturing periods, it is studied on the basis of social economy and academic background analysis, During the course of generating stage, the academic circles attached great importance to the market-oriented study of tourism planning. The ideas of "resource-based, market-oriented" and "sustainable development" became mature. In the growing stage growing, the market-oriented idea was set up, the study of planning technology was going deeper, the study of tourism area image was started, and the content of tourism planning was becaming more complete. In the stage of maturing, tourism planning was standardized, the market-oriented research was going deeper and various ideas of marked-oriented planning were put forward. In this chapter, We accumulate the experience, and summarize the problems at both theoretical and practical levels. Especially, we point5 out the problems caused by irregular management.Part 5: The study on the humanism-oriented period of Chinese t
