New Methods of Quality Testing and Design of Sport Lighting

With the development of physical training and the olympic games will being hold in china, the gymnasium's building began a new historic period. As an important compositive part of gymnasium, the lighting of gymnasium attaches importance to people and arouse many experts and engineers to pay much attention to it and study and discuss it deeply.Lighting for gymnasium is functional at first. The idea which emphasizes amount of lighting merely has been changed gradually with the development of sports. People call for a comfortable and enjoyable visual environment. Visual environment is an integration of environment and lighting design. The visual environment design should think much of receptivity of people as well as physical parameters of lighting. In the final analysis, people's visual receptivity is the primary judge of lighting design. In order to save energy and satisfy the people, we must find out the visual efficiency and environmental psychology in sports games, and understand it deeply. The second chapter of this paper analyzed the principle of sports lighting and environment design from the visual characters. The visual impressibility of sports players to lighting environment has been investigated in this chapter.The luminance distributing should meet the needs of players, audience and TV broadcasting. Measuring the luminance and glare of gymnasium lighting by using digital camera and related software is the main content of this paper. It is a new digital method developed from traditional measurement. By using software to read and calculating the luminance of picture which digital camera shot, the environmental luminance and glare index can be obtained and the lighting quality can be valued. This measure is convenient and can be used without any limitation of location of sports field.Digital simulation is the developmental direction in the future. The fourth chapter of this paper discussed how to simulate and measure the gymnasium lighting through high dynamic range image rendered by three dimensional software and by applying assistant software. The luminance value will be show on the screen of pc. This technique provides an efficient and convenient mean for sports lighting design consulting luminance value.Glare is the familiar question in lighting and can decrease the visual ability. There is an adaptation course to glare for people. How the lasting period of glare affected the stimulation degree of people is studied in the forth chapter. An elementary conclusion has been drawn to this physiological and psychological course. It will provide theoretic basis in study and control glare.
