Traffic Effect Analysis and Optimization Techniques of Bus Stop

In the first place, based on traffic investigation and theoretic analysis, the dissertation analyzes the basic character indexes about bus stopping, such as buses arrived distribution,accelerated and decelerated time distribution, and buses stopping time distribution. Through regression of investigation data, regressed distributing functions of the character indexes are given.On aspect of bus stop's effect on road traffic flow, five kinds of bus stops along side divider and sidewalk on three-breadth and four-breath road are taken as research emphases. We roundly investigate every kind of bus stop's effect factors on road traffic flow. According to investigation data, effect degree and trend of every factor on road traffic flow is analyzed using trend chart, and then some primary factors are chosen to construct effect models of different kinds of bus stops on traffic flow. Finally, the parameters of the models are obtained by using investigation data to regress.On aspect of bus stop's effect on traffic flow of signal-controlled intersection, based on the difference of bus stop's effect on signal intersection with different signal setting, effect models are sorted to four kinds. The dissertation analyzes the effect of bus stopping on other traffic for every delay models, and gives the calculate methods and calculation formulas of the delay. In addition, the dissertation also analyzes bus stopping characters, and give the calculation methods and calculation formulas of bus stopping delays at signal-controlled intersection with bus stop upstream.Ground on preceding research, the dissertation studies optimization techniques of bus stop :Firstly,based on plan idea of bus routes graded, bus stop spacing of different grate bus routes is suggested. Based on a fact that demand distributes discretely along bus route, A dynamic programming algorithm to optimize bus stop spacing was developed in the dissertation. Every optimum Spacing of bus stops can be calculated to obtain using the method.Secondly, a set of methods to locate bus stops on the road and at signal intersection upstream or downstream are given. Through analyzing and comparing advantages and disadvantages between bus stops of road and intersection,the dissertation gives some principles of locating bus stop. Based on preceding founded effect models of bus stop on traffic flow of road and intersection,the dissertation also develops a set of techniques to choose optimum style of bus stop, and diagrammatizes to concretely explain setting method of bus stop.Finally, the dissertation develops two kinds of methods used to optimizing the berth of bus stop, and give setting methods of the accessory stop for bus stop with excessive berths. Based on the ordinary size and stopping character of bus in our country, the dissertation gives the design dimension especially for bus bay.
